BPHA Pool Admission Standards

Supervising adult = 12+ years old

Children 0-5 must remain within arms reach of an adult in the water. Adult must remain IN THE WATER in the same area of the pool.

Children 6-9 must remain within arms reach of an adult in the water, unless they have passed the swim test. Adult must remain in the facility.

Children 10+ may swim unaccompanied, no swim test required. However, BPHA staff reserve the right to test any swimmer 10+ at their own discretion.

Children in a flotation device (lifejacket, puddle jumper, etc.) must be accompanied by a guarian in the water at all times.

Children under 10 years of age must always be accompanied by an adult in the facility with the exception of registered programming (for example, camp, swimming lessons, kids nights out, etc.)
These requirements are in response to recommendations from the Chief Coroner of Ontario.
Pool Rules
All members and their guests must comply with the following rules at all times:

Members and their guests must sign in for each visit. Guests are permitted only when a member who remains present for the duration of the visit accompanies them. See Guest Policy.

Swimmers must shower before entering the water and comply with all Ontario Public Health Act and Regulations, which are posted at the Recreation Centre.

Instructions from BPHA lifeguard staff must be complied with. One long whistle blast means ‘emergency’; everyone must clear the pool area immediately and in an orderly fashion.

Pets and bikes must be left outside the front gate. Skateboards, roller blades and other wheeled recreational devices are not permitted in the pool area. No running on deck.

Please leave the facility tidy; trash, compost and recycling should be carefully disposed of in the proper bins. No glass containers are permitted on the pool deck.
