BPHA President's Spring Notice

March 11, 2012

The BPHA Board has been busy since the October AGM planning a number of winter social events and preparing for our upcoming summer season. Winterlude was held February 26^th and over thirty children and their parents enjoyed tobogganing, races, a snowman competition and treats by Clair Lake on one of our rare wintery days this past winter. Cynthia hosted a Ladies’ Social March 8^th enjoyed by many of the association’s ladies (and Lubor!). The next BPHA social event is planned for April 1^st and it will be our annual Easter Egg Hunt, by the duckpond at 3pm.

Mark your calendars for the Pool and Patio Party, Friday June 15^th this year. More to come on that so stay tuned, it’s always one of the summer highlights!

The pool staff have been hired and you’ll recognize most of them from last season. Matt Lilja will be our Pool Manager again this year, his second in this role and he has a lot of good ideas to keep the programs fresh. Our two Martins have moved on to new pursuits and I’m not yet sure if their replacements share a name as we have a bit of a tradition of that amongst our pool staff.

Sherry Hauser has kindly offered to organize the Speaker Series this summer and is planning on scheduling them for Tuesday evenings. Check back here closer to the summer to see what she’s got planned and if you have speaker or topic suggestions please let Sherry know.

Our annual Victoria Day BBQ and fireworks will be held on Monday, May 23rd 2011 starting at 5:00 p.m. Please bring a side dish, desert or salad and your own plates, cups and cutlery and join us for hamburgers and hotdogs. We'll also have the kid's bicycle parade (decorate those bikes), and Soap Box Derby down Shakespeare Drive. At 9:00 p.m. we'll have fireworks at Claire Lake, they're sure to be spectacular!
